A tag is a keyword or descriptive term associated with a Notefish page as means of classification.
Tags are usually chosen informally and personally by the author/creator of the page. For example, if you have
a Notefish page about Paris, France, you might want to add the following tags to your page:
Paris, France, Eiffel Tomer, Champs-Elys.es, Europe
Adding tags to your page will help you, and if you allow others, to find your pages quickly and easily.
Tagging your page in Notefish is easy. Simply open the page you want to tag.
Next, click on top left of the screen where it says:
'Click here to add tags to this page. Tags will help finding it later.'
Enter your tag words/terms in the field, and hit enter.
You can modify your tags later, by again clicking on the word 'Tags:'
Tagging your page in Notefish will allow you to search and find information about your pages easily later.
If you want the general public to also find, see and use your pages, then tagging and sharing the page
without a password is the ONLY way they can find your pages.
According to Wikipedia, a tag cloud (more traditionally known as a weighted list in the field of visual design)
is a visual depiction of content tags used on a website. Often, more frequently used tags are depicted in a larger font
or otherwise emphasized, while the displayed order is generally alphabetical. Thus both finding a tag by alphabet and
by popularity is possible. Selecting a single tag within a tag cloud will generally lead to a collection of items that
are associated with that tag.
Here is an example of a tag cloud. As you can see photos, shopping and travel are the most popular subjects in this
community of pages.
One way to see the Notefish tag cloud, which is designed to show the post popular tags by font size,
is to click on the 'Search' word on top of your page list, and you.ll see the Notefish tag cloud on this
search page.
By default, Notefish will search your private pages by tags. If you want to search by Note or search public pages
by tags, then go to the search page, and select the proper option, under the search field. *Note that searching public
pages by Note is not currently possible. This is why you'll need to add tags to your pages and share them without
a password, if you want others to find your pages.
If you know the people you want to share your pages with, you can simply share it and send them the URL/link.
However, if you want the general public to find your pages, you will need to do two things:
- Add tags to your pages that others hopefully will search on.
- Share it without setting a password.
This is how the tagging, in conjunction with the sharing and password feature will work:
Page Tagged? | Password Set? | Shared? | Who can find/see it? |
No | No | No | Only you |
No | No | Yes | Everyone who knows the page URL |
No | Yes | Yes | Everyone who knows the page URL & Password |
Yes | No | No | Only you |
Yes | No | Yes | Everyone*** |
Yes | Yes | Yes | Everyone who knows the page URL & Password |
*** Page must be tagged, shared with no password, for others to find.
